A lot of change since I last posted! Damon and I moved from the thriving metropolis of Wilmington, OH to Loveland/Milford, OH. We love our new location, and our pretty doggies have a much larger back yard to frolick around in! Beautiful landscaping and a nice, homey feel! I will say that I miss all of the windows in our old home though; my plants are having a hard time adjusting! Also, I started Law School today at Northern Kentucky University's Chase Law School. It would have been enjoyable if I hadn't been in excruciating pain, and exhausted from the Vicodine I'm on. You see, yesterday I had the great idea to leap off of a flight and a half of stairs from my back deck onto some creek rock. Bella was having a seizure, I was home by myself (Damon was in MO), and while walking outside to her, I took a pretty big fall! I spent the day yesterday in Bethesda North's ER, getting x-rays, and catscans, and 9 stitches in my chin! Not the best way to start off the morning! Luckily, my Grandparents were able to get me to the hospital, and my parents and sister met us there soon after. So yesterday was an adventure to say the least! Damon got home last night; he says I look beautiful (he's lying! :^D) But yeah, that's what's been going on with me! What's been going on with you? | | |
| Wow, it has certainly been a while since I posted last. Quite a bit has been going on! I am still at Dinsmore & Shohl (an attorney's office in Dayton), but I will actually be leaving here on June 2. While I will certainly miss several of the people here, I will certainly not miss the drive to Dayton or the monotony of the work! So I guess I'm excited. I have also applied to Law School, and been accepted at University of Dayton (also with some very serious scholarship money involved) and at Northern Kentucky University (Chase Law School). I am still currently on a waiting list for University of Cincinnati's Law School, and that's where I'm really hoping to go, because of a joint program with the JD (law degree), and a Master's or PhD in Political Science. But you know, small class size, huge amount of applicants, etc., etc. Anyway, on to more exciting things! Damon had hernia surgery in April - the effects of our working at DHL for a time. But all went great with that. He is now pretty much back to normal. We're looking to list our house (through him since he's a Real Estate agent), and hopefully be moving down closer to Cincinnati in the very near future! Damon also got a new job with Rosco Laboratories, Inc., and that's going OK. He has some travel involved, which neither of us is a very big fan of, but other than that, it's not too bad! We also took a 4-5 day vacation just recently (beginning of May), to Washinton D.C., which was super-fun! We stayed in the Embassy Suites in Alexandria, which was a VERY nice place. We had a suite! We're getting more and more involved at church - debating two offered positions right now, trying to make the right decision. And our 'children' (Chica and Bella - our Golden Retrievers), are doing pretty good. However, Bella has been having seizures, and they're really violent. And apparently, when neither of us is home, Chica attacks her when she's having one. So that's never a good thing, and we're trying to figure out the best way to resolve the problem. All I know is coming home to find Bella a bloody mess when Damon's out of town, is not fun. The first time I saw her, I thought she'd been hit by a car. But anyway, life is good in general! Looking forward to having some free time though when I quit D&S. Right now I'm gone from home from 7 AM until 6 PM, so it will certainly be nice to have that 11 hours free again! Anyway, leave me comments if you'd like, let me know how you're doing! Thanks!

| As we look around ourselves and see the destruction everywhere, let us remember where our Hope lies. Let us remember that we have not been given a spirit of fear. God made the ultimate sacrifice for us. Would He do that, then leave us to fend for ourselves? Would He rescue us just to watch us fall? No, I didn't think so either. As those around us struggle and grow weary, let us remind them of the Hope we have found. Not to tell them would be robbing them of the greatest news they could ever receive. Not to give them the opportunity to make an "eternal resolution" would be denying them the greatest gift they could ever hope for. Let us not forget our purpose in being on earth. It's not to have a good time, not to further ourselves in this world, not to make money, find that perfect person for life, or even get a degree. We have a commission, a GREAT commission; let us not forget that. | | |
| HAPPY NEW YEAR! HELLO 2006!
Just a thought...
What are you doing to further the Kingdom of God today???

| MERRY CHRISTMAS everybody!!! I hope that you're all enjoying this holiday season, and that you have a wonderful Christmas! All is well at the Haas-Hatten household! Damon and I's first Christmas together! Looking forward to it! In other news, I am now working for a Law Firm in Dayton, OH called Dinsmore & Shohl. I've been here since October 31. Seems like a long time for me, one who easily gets bored. I'm finding myself regretting the decision to hold off on Law School for a year. I'd rather still be in school compared to getting up at 6AM every day. I am NOT a morning person. Ask anyone who's ever been around me when I'm waking up. Not a pretty sight... Yes, that is the expression on anyone who has seen me roll out of bed at 6AM. Ready, here it is again--> Anyway! Damon's doing well too: he's looking into getting a job with a theatrical lighting company called Rosco. We shall see though. Since we've left Calvary, things have changed so much. BUT, I should point out, much of it has changed for the better! An ex-pastor friend of ours put it this way the other day-"It is much easier to work for and/or with non-Christians many times than it is to work with and/or for Christians." I never would have thought that to be true until I found myself an Associate Pastor's Wife. 'Twas not a good time. Damon and I are loving our new home church (my old home church),Community Christian Fellowship: we're involved, but not on the payscale. It is wonderful. It's scary to think that once you're on a payscale, the organization believes they 'own' you and can dictate to you what is right and wrong. Only Jesus can do that (reveal to you 'right from wrong'). Here we can be ourselves, express our opinions, and reach out to non-believers without anybody's 'opinions' hanging over our heads. While our money/job situation has taken a drastic turn, we are learning to trust God. When you're making the decision He wants you to make, taking the path He's trying to lead you down, life is so much happier! But enough about all of that! Damon, my sister Megan, and I just got back from NYC! We had a wonderful time. We were there this past weekend (luckily missing the strike!), got to see two WONDERFUL shows ("Wicked" & "Hairspray"), did a little shopping, a little sight-seeing, a little eating...it was a great time! A little crowded around Rockefeller, but still awesome. NYC is beautiful when all decorated for Christmas! Also, Damon and I just recently became an Aunt and Uncle! His sister and bro-in-law had a baby boy the day before Thanksgiving! We're very excited to see little Javan here in a couple of days (for Christmas). Anyway, leave me comments-I'd love to know how everyone is doing! And once again, I wish you all the absolute best Christmas!!! Keep Jesus the center, love with all of your heart, and remember just how much better it is to give than to receive...Get out there and bless someone with what God has chosen to bless you with! Pay it forward! God Bless!
Love, ~Erin
